The multifocal intraocular lenses that are being implanted in our centre are called Lentis MPLUS. According to our extensive experience and research conducted, these lenses are the best option among the existent products developed by optical laboratories until recently.
Instituto Oftalmológico Amigó aims to offer the best option to our patients, its decisions being supported by the studies in charge of the Research Department and the experience of our surgeons. This intraocular lens has a unique design, different from anything else seen before. After the intervention the quality of your vision would be at its highest level, so that the use of glasses will be improbable. Currently the centre enjoys the use of a virtually new tool, developed at the University of Murcia. This tool measures the optical quality of the intraocular lenses before being implanted. Thus, by means of a software designed for this purpose, today it is possible to estimate the behavior of the lens before its implantation. This software was first introduced in Florida (USA) at the ARVO Congress in 2008, one of the most important events in the field (see abstract). |
Afterwards, the system was set up in our centre, in collaboration with the University of Murcia and the University of Valencia. The system would measure the multifocal intraocular lenses, much more complex than the monofocal ones. The first results of these were published in the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in 2012 (see abstract), and subsequently presented at the Congreso de la Sociedad Europea de Cirugía Refractiva y de Catarata, in Austria, 2011 (see abstract).
n brief, observing the results of MPLUS lenses as compared to others, and highlighting the expertise of our surgeons to obtain the best results (see article published in the Sociedad Española de Oftalmología), we highly recommend and select these lenses, as they provide exceptional results. Among these achievements we have to mention the first multifocal lens implantation in a patient suffering from nystagmus (ocular illness consisting of involuntary eye movement). This breakthrough was published in the Journal of Refractive Surgery (consultar abstract), one of the most important scientific journals at international level. NHowever, the staff of Instituto Oftalmológico Amigó –its Research Department as well as surgeons- remains mindful to the breakthroughs in the field of ophthalmology, as well as the implantation of lenses, so as to offer our patients the best option in each situation. |
