Computerized ocular tomography (OCT)

The OCT (optical coherence tomography) is essentially a high definition “scanner” which allows to study very thin sections of ocular tissues without any impact on the patient’s eye. Is form of tomographic images obtained by OCT allow diagnosis of diseases which are difficult to identify, but also has the ability to explore and compare the same area, for example the retina, several times making it possible to know if there was a improvement or a worsening.

OCT is capable of measuring the thickness of the retina, it is particularly useful to evaluate the diagnosis and follow the effectiveness of a treatment of such important diseases as those affecting the macula and glaucoma.
